If you never had a massage, here are some things
to think about.
First, when you get a massage, most techniques
require you to be on a table under a sheet. If you
feel uncomfortable taking off your clothes, there
are other techniques that can be used to allow for
you to keep your clothes on. It's your comfort level
that is the most important. Please let us know at
the time of appointment so we can make appropriate
arrangements for you.
The therapist will uncover the area in which they
are working. You should feel a soft touch at first
to apply oil or lotion. Then a more direct touch
that could be deeper on the skin connecting to the
muscles underneath. Finishing, again with a soft
touch at the end.
Different techniques require more or less pressure
depending on the area worked. Like deep tissue requires
a deeper pressure and slower movement to the underlying
muscles. Most massage techniques will force the
muscle to release toxins into the blood stream.
It is very important that you hydrate with fluids
after a massage and sometimes before a massage to
ensure that you don't get the "Massage Blah's".
They are flu like symptoms or sore and achy feeling
in the areas that were worked.
The first appointment will be based on how frequently
you have had a massage and what your daily activates
include. We will do a pretty lengthy medical intake
on the first session and discuss medical history
as well as current and future goals. Plan on a complimentary
1/2 hour of intake time and the hour(s) of actual
massage for assessment and treatment. (Remember
- you get the time you book on the massage table.
We do not charge you for an hour and only work 50
minutes)
Remember this is
"A Partnership in Wellness."

We follow the current AMTA
guidelines. What does that mean to you? Well
here are a few important pieces of information.
- We use a sheet to drape your body and only uncover
the area in which we work. The rest of your body
is always covered.
- We only practice within our educational background.
- Underwear or Not? - That is a personal decision
you will have to make. What is your comfort level
and boundary. (Remember, you will be completely
covered with a sheet and only the area that is
being worked will be uncovered.) If at anytime
you feel uncomfortable, please let
us know.
- Massage is a two-way communication between Therapist
and Client. We pride ourselves in listening to
our clients. It's the Client's responsibility
to tell the Therapist what feels good or painful.
A good Therapist will ask the client as they work.
- The Therapist will communicate with the client
when performing something new on the client as
well as a more difficult or advanced technique.
If you have any questions, please ask us and we
will be happy to provide you with more information.
